In 1979, Steve and Suzzy Cardell decided to take on the biggest challenge: starting their own business! They started the Steve Cardell Agency from their kitchen table, and over the years, built a well respected, successful insurance agency in Endwell, NY.

Mikki Cardell Chamberlain, their daughter, helped at the agency when she was a kid, filing mail, making copies, and almost always playing with the typewriter. When she graduated from Binghamton University with her Bachelor’s degree, she decided to go back to the business as an agent. She went on to get a Masters in Education and another degree in Educational Leadership from SUNY Cortland and worked in education for 16 years.

After 35 years of hard work, Steve and Suzzy decided to retire. The Northwoods Corporation took over the everyday management of the agency at that point. But five years later, Mikki decided to come back to the insurance industry, and it was a natural fit to come back to the family business as an agent. Northwoods still assists with the operations of the agency, but our family connection to the business is back!
